Senior Product Designer, Trial Conduct
About TrialSpark
TrialSpark is a technology-driven drug development company that runs end-to-end clinical trials, focused on bringing new treatments to patients faster and more efficiently.
The biggest bottleneck in bringing new treatments to patients is the clinical trial. On average, getting a drug through the trial process takes nearly a decade and frequently costs $1B+. To combat this industry problem, TrialSpark has built a technology platform that optimizes all aspects of a clinical trial, enabling more efficient trial design, faster trial completion, and higher trial data quality.
TrialSpark recently raised their Series C, and is putting the capital to work by in-licensing and co-developing drug programs through in-house development, joint ventures, and NewCos. Together with doctors, patients, and communities, TrialSpark is working to develop the treatments of tomorrow.
About the Position
Technology is core to TrialSpark’s differentiation. As clinical trials become more innovative – collecting data from increasingly novel sources like sensors and wearables in the patient home, utilizing more complex trial designs, and being made available to a wider and more diverse range of patients – the pharma industry’s existing trial processes and platforms are ill-equipped to harness this new complexity.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing our Trial Conduct systems and experiences. You’ll reimagine how clinical trial data is collected, overseen, analyzed, and prepared for FDA submission, with the goal of using technology to reduce the time and cost of running a clinical trial by an order of magnitude.
- Along with your PM and Engineering counterparts, develop a product vision and prioritize roadmap initiatives that will connect and empower users across the clinical trial ecosystem
- Define a UX architecture that bridges the people, processes, and technology required to deliver efficient, high-quality clinical trial data for analysis and FDA submission
- Conduct discovery with users and stakeholders to shape project objectives and requirements
- Lead an iterative design process from low to high fidelity
- Develop and test product hypotheses with users and stakeholders at valuable milestones in the product development process
- Contribute to TrialSpark’s design practice through thoughtful feedback and proactive improvement of team rituals, principles, and patterns
- Use your experience and knowledge to guide the team to deliver quickly while creating lasting value
Relevant Experience
- You have 5+ years of professional experience in end-to-end product design, UX, or UI
- You have experience designing product systems, not just individual user experiences
- This may include products in which users are interacting with non-human actors like algorithms or AI, or where multiple users are interacting with each other to accomplish a goal
- Have experience in-house working agilely and collaboratively with PMs and engineers to test hypotheses quickly and deliver excellent product experiences
- You are comfortable with navigating uncertainty and ambiguity, with a knack for formulating discovery plans to inform top-level strategies down to in-the-weeds operational details
- You are an excellent communicator - both verbal and written - and are a highly structured thinker
- You roll up your sleeves and do what it takes to make your product and team successful
- You learn quickly and are deeply curious about the industry; you are excited to become an expert on clinical trials - from how studies are designed to how the FDA approves a new drug
- (Nice to have) You have experience planning and conducting user research in enterprise or workflow-driven problem spaces
- (Nice to have) You have experience working in a startup or other environment with rapidly-changing problem context
