Senior Product Designer
About GameChanger
We believe sports matter because they encourage leadership, teamwork, dedication, and confidence—critical life lessons that have the power to propel young athletes toward meaningful futures. GameChanger (GC) recognizes that without coaches, parents and volunteers, organized youth sports could not exist. We celebrate those tireless heroes and make it our mission to help them do what they do best.
The value that GC delivers is immeasurable. Today’s families are juggling sports schedules for multiple children and can’t always be at the game. Instead parents, family and friends huddle around the GC digital campfire to watch it live on GameStream as the game is announced and animated in real-time. Also, coaches and players benefit from sound developmental insights found in the 150 stats, spray charts and team management solutions that help coaches spend more time on the field.
Backed by the resources of DICK’S Sporting Goods (NYSE: DKS), GC is the uncontested leader in its space, having built a sizable audience with an amazing following. With over four million games scored and 7 million+ followers last year, the stage is set to catapult GC to new heights. GC is a high growth company with revenue more than doubling from 2017 to 2019 and a robust growth outlook. Headquartered in downtown Manhattan, you will have all of the experiences of working in a start-up environment while having the backing of a large organization.
The Department
Our design team is highly passionate and deeply believes in user-centered innovation. We stay connected to our customers and work on problems that make an immediate meaningful impact in the youth sports market. We strive to provide coaches and fans with a smooth functioning and beautifully-designed experience.
The Position:
We are looking for an incredibly talented Senior Product Designer to join our growing design team. The role demands creative problem solving, great execution and the ambition to take projects from start to finish. You must be someone who is energized by the idea of achieving our ambitious goals with your teammates in product, engineering, and marketing. You're a critical thinker with an innovative approach to making products simple enough for anyone to understand and use.
What you’ll do:
- Be the senior designer for a cross-functional product team leading the end-to-end product design process, shipping features across native mobile platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members (product management, engineering, quality assurance, and marketing) to influence the shape of the product from conception to execution and beyond through a user centered approach.
- Speak with users, collect data, user test prototypes and translate research insights into meaningful outcomes. You’ll work iteratively to define problems and quickly find solutions.
- You’ll initiate and lead design sprints, workshops and iterate on the vision to develop new features that are high quality and easy to use.
- Help evolve and grow the design practice at GameChanger. Contribute to our design system’s continuous innovation, be vocal in design team reviews, share inspirational resources, and aid in brainstorms.
- Question the status quo and advocate for change.
Who you are:
- You’ve been designing user-centered experiences for at least 5 years.
- You’ve designed and shipped native iOS and Android apps.
- Your portfolio isn’t just high-fidelity mockups, you show process, sketches, collaboration, and reflection. You have at least two detailed case studies.
- You’ve taken large problems and broken them down into bite-sized measurable chunks.
- You have experience conducting user research - facilitating user interviews/tests, digging through data, and synthesizing findings to form recommendations and action items.
- You advocate for design by articulating and presenting the rationale behind your proposed ideas.
- You care about moving your team forward and look for ways to positively impact the team, not just the product.
- You own the design process from start to finish - from gathering first-hand user research to QA’ing builds before they are shipped.
- You’re focused on results and constantly looking for ways to make the consumer experience better by initiating feedback, assessing data and designing multiple options.
- You are self-aware and humble.
- You take the time to seek out and provide meaningful feedback, because you know it’s the best way to grow.
The Culture
We take pride in a culture of inclusion and collaboration. We are empowered to try new approaches and take ownership of the success. We have a vision and attract the talent to support it.
