Senior UX/Design System Engineer

You are an experienced UX engineer who wants to be a part of NYC's hottest unicorn startup and really make your mark.

You are passionate about creating intuitive user interactions and feature-rich user experiences. You feel comfortable working across many different web platforms. You consider the needs of the user first and obsess about the user journey.

You feel it is critical that your voice is heard in product and business decisions. You love learning about new front end technologies and sharing what you’ve learned with others. You’re both a listener and contributor. You take care to understand before making yourself understood.

You collaborate openly with the design team, offering crucial feedback on designs during design reviews. Your care for HCI shines through in your implementations. You strive for a consistent user experience always.

When writing React components, you maximize the reusability of your code. Your web component code is architected for browser compatibility. Your HTML is semantic, modular, and templated. You like variables in your CSS and you are a master of your CSS preprocessor.

At Compass You will: 

• Work closely with product and product design to build user experiences in React.
• Build components for engineers, contributing to the Compass design system.
• Own entire projects from beginning to end.

What we are looking for: 

• 6+ years experience using HTML, CSS, and CSS preprocessors.
• 3+ years experience with JavaScript and a JavaScript framework like React.
• Extensive experience using Sketch/Abstract.
• Experience using web components.
• Experience using the npm ecosystem and JavaScript toolchains (building, linting, testing, etc.).
