We are inspired by design, fueled by data, and obsessed with the user, both retail and institution.

The Role: Senior Visual Designer, Design Systems

The Design Team at Gemini is expanding its Design System team! We’re looking for an experienced systems designer to design and build highly crafted UI components, define usage guidelines and play a critical role in accelerating speed to market and driving consistency, usability, and accessibility across our products.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build tools allowing our product designers to work more efficiently 
• Handle documentation, organization, governance and construction of system components and the underlying rationale and motivation 
• Engage with peers across the product ecosystem to define problems/opportunities within our Design System, evaluate solutions, and document and communicate to the broader team
• Create components, prototypes and user guidelines under specific direction from senior design staff
• Develop tools and processes for designers and engineers to engage with the design system
• Support users of the system through multiple forms of communication and contribution models

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years experience in user experience and visual design, with at least 1 year solely focused on design systems work
• Experience designing and building flexible Figma components and variants leveraging auto layout
• Demonstrates an in-depth, understanding of layout, typography, hierarchy, motion and interaction design
• High level of craft and attention to detail is required
• Demonstrates understanding of usability principles and how to apply them in practical ways to design systems
• Experience in creating visual user interfaces for web and mobile applications
• Excellent time management with strong organizational, communication and conceptual thinking skills
• An ability to explore multiple solutions for complex problems
• Team player and self-starter with a hunger for collaboration across all disciplines of design, product and engineering
• Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
• Solid understanding of HTML/CSS and JavaScript
• A portfolio of relevant design work is required for consideration. It should demonstrate your contributions to design systems
• Hard worker with a heavy dose of humility
