The Role: 

The Senior Visual Designer will help evolve Newsela’s design system, create and maintain a unified visual language and strategy, and ensure visual polish across the entire user journey. As the visual design expert across product teams, you will address challenges and provide support for Newsela’s product design, from high-level direction to delivering concrete assets that are part of the same family of visuals -- whether on or off the product. You’ll be a visual design problem-solver who balances the need for clarity and aesthetics, and isn’t afraid to sweat the details.

You have impeccable taste and pixel-perfect standards across various platforms (iOS, Android and Web). You geek out on coming up with the perfect affordances, transitions, latest web and mobile patterns, but always use accessibility guidelines and usability findings to inform your design decisions. You are familiar with the fundamentals of front end code and latest prototyping tools. Whether working in-house or at an agency, you’re used to juggling multiple projects at once, and can deliver quality designs on-time while also helping coach your team through their own projects.
