Overview

We are looking for a talented and creative Senior UX researcher with a passion for understanding user needs and motivations. You will work with the product team to identify problem areas, determine the appropriate methodologies to research them and derive actionable findings that contribute to our product strategy and the overall success of the company. You will also contribute to our design culture by grounding our decisions in data, analytical rigor, and user empathy. We are looking for someone who wants to grow with the company, understands that constant change is one of the benefits of working at a startup and sees it as an opportunity for growth.

What you’ll do

  • Design and conduct primary research in line with business and product strategy to better understand our users and how we can better serve them now and in the future
  • Select the appropriate methodology/ies to explore a problem space and produce actionable data-driven recommendations
  • Collaborate with PMs and designers to conduct focused problem discovery and drive product development decisions
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the research process: identify and scope projects, set expectations, explain findings and collaborate to identify next steps
  • Tell the story of your research: communicate your findings with the appropriate context, fidelity and emphasis for a range of audiences
  • Build and evangelize for research-led product development at Electric: share your insights with the product team, demonstrate the value of investing in research and empower others to grow their research skills

Who you are

  • A degree in Anthropology, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience conducting primary research and producing concrete, actionable findings
  • Examples of past research you led describing the problem area, your approach, findings and the impact of your recommendations
  • Strong understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of a range of research methods, including when and how to apply them during the product development process
  • Thorough knowledge of user-centered design, usability and user research methods
  • A mind for data: the ability to synthesize and interpret diverse data and identify areas for further exploration
  • Know when to collaborate with designers, PMs and engineers and when to work autonomously
  • Ability to identify opportunities, scope research, create and manage timelines and drive projects to completion
  • Exceptional communication skills, empathy, and high EQ
  • Be comfortable and motivated working in a high-growth startup: collaborate to improve our process and take ownership of initiatives that help us make better product decisions

We are proud to foster a workplace free from discrimination. We strongly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and background will lead to a better environment for our employees and a better product for our users.
