Job Description

Within MSK’s ​Digital Informatics and Technology Solutions (DigITs) division, we’re excited to recruit ​a passionate, pragmatic designer ​to​ advance our transformation and help rapidly build out screens, interfaces and prototypes bringing our UX work into reality. 

 

As UI Product Designer you will focus on design, prototyping, and production oversight of tools and product features, seeing projects through cycle of build, release, and iteration. The UI Designer will demonstrate an understanding of design, usability, user testing and research and have up to date knowledge of trends and best practices. 

 

This position is apart of MSK's reactivation phase and requires on site availability Wed/Thurs. 

 

You will 

  • Demonstrate excellent visual design skills, including typography, color, composition, visual hierarchy, and interface design with ability to deliver a polished "pixel perfect" design prototype 
  • Plan and implement new designs 
  • Optimize existing user interface designs 
  • Combine creativity with an awareness of the design elements 
  • Understand UI process - ability to produce low-fidelity wire frames and turn it into high level presentation layer while adhering to existing product 
  • Show expertise at wireframing and prototyping 
  • Be a problem solver. You can reduce complex problems down to the right balance of flexibility, power, and ease of use 
  • Showcase systems-minded thinking. You can extrapolate and extend shared patterns and behaviors with experience utilizing a design system 
  • Possess attention to detail in vetting out designs in-browser, across devices, and for various use cases and for cross-platform functionality 
  • Have the ability to communicate ideas and reasoning to non-technical and non-creative audiences 
  • Demonstrate solid organizational and time management skills and strong sense of cultural awareness 
  • Be an open-minded learner. You love working with other designers, developers, and product people 

 

 

You have 

  • 6+ years of experience building and implementing user interfaces for digital products that users love​​  
  • Expertise in standard product design software such as Figma, Sketch, InVision or equivalent is a must.  
  • A mastery of UI design fundamentals across digital platforms and a deep understanding of the importance of applying qualitative and quantitative methodologies to inform and validate decisions 
  • Acute understanding that everything counts, including operational rigor, relationship management, workflow excellence, and attention to detail 
  • Ability to cultivate an environment of teamwork and cooperation  
  • Experience connecting teams that come from both creative and technical backgrounds 
  • Experience​ ​working​ ​in​ ​a​ ​scaled agile/scrum​​ ​process 
  • Basic HTML, CSS and JavaScript experience a plus
