Job Description We're looking for a UX Design Director for Rewards who will help set the direction, vision, and methodology across all of JP Morgan Chase digital rewards experiences. Reporting into the Managing Director, Head of Design for Benefits & Rewards, you will set the bar for quality by example and lead a team to develop and deliver compelling and impactful consumer experiences. This will require a strong point of view on design, hands-on creation of experiences, developing strategies for implementation within a complex ecosystem and building meaningful relationships within the organization. You will partner closely as a quad peer with Product, Engineering & Data & Analytics from conceptualization to commercialization while undertaking an aggressive transformation agenda, which builds on the success of existing teams and impactful consumer financial products, this leadership role requires a deep understanding of experience design for consumer-facing digital products and services of all kinds.

The Design and Customer Experience (DCE) team, which this role sits within, is responsible for creating exceptional experiences for Chase's Consumer and Community Bank. About the Role:
As our next Executive Director of Design, you'll lead a cross-functional group of user experience designers, content designers, and UX researchers to create experiences that help millions of our customers make the most of their money so they can make the most of their lives.
We're looking for an experienced, broad-minded Executive Director of Design to help us evolve our design practice, improve quality, and scale our team. The Executive Director role is a crucial hub, working with senior leadership to understand product and experience strategy, collaborating with cross-functional peers to turn that strategy into a set of product design and development workstreams, and leading multiple, adjacent design teams in delivering on that strategy, maintaining high standards of quality, and ensuring users remain at the heart of all decisions.
Executive Directors manage Managers, establishing frameworks and practices for people management, and support direct reports through mentorship, professional development, and career-building.
As an Executive Director, you are the standard bearer for recruiting and hiring, working with Managers to maintain a high bar for talent, crucial as we continue to scale our organization.
Executive Directors that succeed have a strong diplomatic bent, using relationship skills to bring our product, data and analytics, and technology into the work, while upholding the values and quality standards in a stakeholder-rich environment.
What you'll do:

  • Work with Product executive peers to scope and plan work across Products
  • Build teams to tackle significant and strategic challenges
  • Take UX and product strategy developed by more senior leaders and use that to organize and orient the work of your team
  • Identify new opportunities for value creation
  • Develop and articulate a compelling vision that teams rally around
  • Hold team, and yourself, accountable for quality work; participates in critique and other review
  • Shield the team from executive politics and randomization, maintaining their focus on the work
  • Shift from people management to org management-some reports may be managers
  • Success is primarily defined through process and quality results


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lead teams that shipped products
  • Successfully managed moderate teams (5+ people)
  • Prior work that demonstrates leadership ability in Experience Design, Content Design, or Experience Research
  • Can plan and structure design work across product teams
  • Persuasive communicator and storyteller; comfortable presenting to executive stakeholders
  • Robust understanding of the business needs, and how design connects with it
