User Experience Researcher
The Experience Research team here at Asana is focused on understanding the dynamics of modern work, the role technology plays and how Asana can empower teams to thrive in a collaborative environment. We champion high-quality customer experiences and uncover new opportunities to drive strategic decisions.
We’re looking for a confident, collaborative, systems-thinker with a deep toolkit to lead research efforts in our New York office. You’ll help the team understand our customer so we can all build a better product and ultimately, a better way of work.
Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritise opportunities for research within a small team of Designers, Product Managers and Engineers
- Lead all aspects of the research cycle, from scoping and recruiting to method selection, analysis and presentation
- Understand the specific issues/needs facing the user no matter where they are in their journey (new, proficient, etc.) and work to improve it
- Advocate for the customer by gracefully stating uncomfortable truths when necessary
- Quickly deliver findings and insights that account for the company’s mission, initiatives, and desired business goals without losing sight of customer needs
- Give guidance to teams outside of project work to help them make sound decisions based on market, customer, and product knowledge
- Recommend and enact improvements to the team’s process, tools and communications
Requirements
- Experience leading a range of evaluative and generative methodologies both on-site and remote
- Expert in scoping, planning and executing each step of the research process
- Ability to construct meaningful stories that are memorable, develop a life of their own, and are true to the data
- Foundational knowledge of information architecture, design principles, and content strategy for both web and mobile
- Skilled presenter and persuasive communicator
- Comfortable with technologies for recording, analyzing, storing, and sharing research
- 5-7 years applied experience in a high-tech/product-driven company
Nice to Have
- Worked with teams in remote offices (different time zones)
- Accessibility standards and compliance (e.g. WCAG, 508, etc.)
- An understanding of quantitative and market research methods
- Experience expanding products into non-US markets
- Experience/familiarity with collaboration tools, workplace dynamics, decision-making topics
