Do you have a passion for media? VICE is looking for a User Researcher to join our Brooklyn, NY (or Los Angeles, CA) team. You’ll own our user research efforts deliver insights that shape the future of VICE’s digital products, and help our team stay focused on users.

You are highly curious, empathetic, and self-motivated. As the first dedicated User Researcher on our team, you will recommend and execute on methodologies to inform product and experience challenges. Methods will include usability testing, ethnography, surveys, data analytics, and competitive analysis. You’ll inspire our team to think differently about the challenges we face by sharing your findings in compelling visual, written, and in-person formats.

 In this role, you will join VICE Product & Engineering to help us foster a culture of product excellence and be a major part of building fresh consumer products with global reach.

 About the Role:

• This is an opportunity to establish and evolve research practices for our network of websites and apps
• Work closely with designers, product managers, engineers, and editors to guide product development and iteration
• Define project scopes, and select appropriate methodologies based on project needs
• Recruit for and conduct in-person, and remote user research studies
• Partner with data analysts to answer core research questions
• Meet regularly with our market research team to synthesize and share relevant findings back to Product
• Present findings and prioritized recommendations with Product as well as stakeholders from across the company
• Provide usability assessments for products in development
• Manage third-party resources as needed
• Evangelize user research across the company, and continually evolve the research discipline at VICE
• Coach other functions on basic user research

 About You:

• 3+ years experience as a User Researcher
• Broad experience with qualitative research methods, from ethnography, to usability testing
• Experience with quantitative methods like A/B testing, data analysis, and surveys
• A clear sense of how to choose an appropriate methodology for a given project
• Self-motivated and able to run with multiple projects independently
• Can clearly communicate findings and effectively advocate for end users
