About the job
Redesign Health is looking for a Director of User Research. Working with managers of our Design and Research teams, you will be responsible for recruiting users, doctors, and subject matter experts for new venture ideas and existing ventures. We’ll look to you to conduct interviews, in-field research studies, competitor research, synthesize findings into actionable insights, and prototyping new services. The ideal candidate will be able to combine qualitative research with data-driven methods to uncover key insight into consumers’ desires, motivations, and habits. Your will help ensure that priorities across the organization are consistently aligned with the needs and wants of partners and customers.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research, synthesis findings, and playback insights to a wide group of stakeholders.
- Conduct in-person research studies, such as 1:1 user interviews, small group interviews, prototype testing, co-creation sessions, etc.
- Conduct in-field research studies, such as shadowing, shop alongs, service safaris, etc.
- Synthesis findings into useable & actionable insights that can drive design insights, future research, and marketing strategy.
- Develop and iterate on a research process that integrates with design, marketing, and other studio processes.
- Educate and include members of the studio team and operating company teams to advance their research.
- Help scope and kick off research studies for the studio and operating companies.
- Manage user research project budgets.
- Develop a process for customer and medical professional recruitment.
- Manage all external relationships with consumers, user recruitment resources, freelance researchers, etc.
- Maintain a database / network of users and medical professionals for future use.
Relevant Experiences:
- 3-5 years of experience conducting user research.
- Experience planning, conducting, synthesising, and playing back findings to a team.
- Ability to document the research process, including audio recordings, screen recordings, photography, service blueprints, etc.
- Highly competent communicator both verbally and visually.
- Comfortable setting your own timelines, goals, and plans but also flexing to sudden timeline changes as needs appear.
- Direct experience applying research findings to projects and problems to be solved.
- Ability to apply quantitative data, numbers, and analysis to derive research insights.
- Experience implementing and conducting various methods of qualitative and quantitative research techniques.
Bonus points for:
- Experience in early stage user research or prototyping.
- Experience/familiarity with the healthcare space.
- Experience working with product and design teams.
- Experience working in the venture or start up space.
