HOMER has a newly created opportunity for a UX Researcher to join our growing Product Design team! This role will report into our UX Research Manager and will support HOMER’s user experience research and design program in our New York City office.

You will

  • Develop & execute plans for recruiting families for user research, especially play studies
  • Ensure we are following best practices in regard to participant tracking, communication, and privacy
  • Gather research requirements from all child-facing squads for each sprint
  • Provide day-to-day UX input for game design
  • Create protocols for each sprint’s play studies
  • Facilitate remote & on-site (pending COVID-19 restrictions) play studies throughout the entire product life cycle
  • Document, analyze, and share timely play study notes with each squad
  • Maintain processes and tools for user research logistics (scheduling, communication, tools, recruiting, etc.)
  • Maintain a repository of play study insights and/or reports.
  • Support larger scale research projects, i.e. with parents, internal users, etc.
  • Support evaluative research projects as necessary

 

Must haves

  • 2 years experience in UX or a related field
  • Previous experience working with children
  • A degree in psychology, anthropology, education, human computer interaction, and/or a related field.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical thinking and communication skills
  • Close attention to detail 
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teammates
  • Collaborative nature and a willingness to involve others in your research
  • Comfort delivering rapid research findings 
  • Willingness to work and make decisions independently

 

Nice-to-haves

  • An interest in educational media 
  • Experience running qualitative social science research (e.g. psychology lab work, ethnography, etc.)
  • Experience developing prototypes with software such as Figma, Adobe, or Proto.io
