Vault is looking for a highly motivated and skilled Designer to join our digital products team. The designer will work with product team to conceptualize, design, and maintain product interfaces and overall user experience for Vault’s portfolio of web and software applications serving the education and library communities. The candidate will be responsible for design of the end-to-end user experience, including user workflows and wireframes. Submissions must include a link to online portfolio.

Responsibilities:

• Manage UX/UI best practices that fit all technical requirements and usability standards
• Maintain and enhance design features and content of existing websites
• Communicate your ideas with user flows, wireframes, visual designs, prototypes, and specs
• Collaborate with Product, Editorial and Engineer teams from ideation to release
• Hand off and fine-tune design assets for site development
• Work independently, take design direction, and successfully interpret feedback
• Ability to create thoughtful, easy-to-use products for end users
• Visualizing data in understandable and compelling ways across web and mobile

Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of current web development languages. Solid understanding of grid-based design, layout, typography, color and other design principles
• A current portfolio demonstrating strong user interface and visual design work
• Ability to communicate and defend design decisions
• Expertise with Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, InDesign, Invision, Zeplin, or similar tools
• Ability to work well in a highly collaborative environment and take lead on some projects
• Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
• Working understanding of HTML, CSS, browser capabilities and responsive breakpoints
• Experience with designing for touch and/or mobile interfaces
• Prototyping, WordPress and accessibility a plus
