THE STORY

When we started in 2012, we set out to reinvent men's basics — with underwear and socks as our starting point. Today, we are a full-fledged menswear brand that powers radically-efficient wardrobing. Rooted in smart design and performance fabrics, our products are engineered to work together through our  pioneering “Daily Wear System”.

As we continue to expand our product offering and distribution beyond e-commerce, we are looking for passionate, proactive, strategic, and creative problem-solvers to join our rapidly growing team. If that sounds like you… keep reading.

THE ROLE

The VP of Creative is a key leadership role at Mack Weldon, responsible for leading both the internal creative team and external partners. Your experience as a fully integrated, growth driven creative leader with a copywriting background will help galvanize our creative team and efforts as the brand expands beyond our e-commerce roots to include a robust retail footprint.

We are looking for a creative leader and expert communicator who thrives in a fast-moving environment. In addition to leading the creative team, you will work in close partnership with the product, merchandising, and marketing teams to ensure that the brand’s executions and actions are best-in-class and business driving.

We are excited to add your fresh perspective, creative expertise, and firsthand experience to the company as we evolve from a product-centric brand to a brand for life. You will report directly to the CMO.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Transform marketing strategies, briefs and data into highly-engaging, business-driving ideas.

  • Leverage customer insights, data and results to inform creative approaches and ideas.
  • Identify new channels, platforms and places where our creative can have greater resonance and engagement.
  • Ensure that our products and brand POV are translated into compelling and differentiated narratives.

Oversee the development of best-in-class creative that drives the business and brand forward.

  • Codify the brand’s creative vision, set the creative direction and idea generation for all assets, and serve as the relationship lead for external agencies including design, production and post-production.
  • Be a compelling storyteller with a clear talent for managing the delivery of concise, emotional and thoughtful work both strategically and creatively.
  • Run briefings, brainstorms and inspiration sessions for the team and across the company as needed.

Lead the creative team as both an inspirational  leader and hands-on executor.

  • Set the bar for creative output by defining goals that help to reach company objectives and provide role clarity, accountability, and delegation.
  • Inspire and educate the team on how to think outside of the category to deliver best-in-class creative solutions.
  • Evaluate talent and provide feedback, mentorship and career development opportunities.

Work across the organization to bring our product vision and brand aspirations to life.

  • Develop close working relationships with product design, merchandising and digital product teams to maximize product framing and in-market impact.
  • Share POVs, ideas and solutions across teams to ensure all areas of the organization understand the creative vision.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure that process and operations are optimized for all aspects of production and campaign development (e.g., product availability for shoots, on-site merchandising, etc).

WHO YOU ARE

  • A seasoned copywriter with experience giving art direction and at least 15 years of direct experience (combination of agency and brand-side DTC/e-commerce preferred).
  • A multi-hyphenated creative with experience overseeing conceptual and executional development with a balance of brand and digital marketing expertise.
  • An expert across all channels with an especially strong understanding of today’s digital landscape.
  • A dynamic leader who can manage, inspire and mobilize cross-functional leads as well as direct reports.
  • A strong decision maker who is able to move fast and make calls and recommendations backed by experience and data.
  • A self-starter and multi-tasker who is able to succeed in ambiguous, uncharted environments.
  • Comfortable working in an in-person office environment in New York City with domestic and international travel in line with business objectives.

WHAT MAKES US SPECIAL

  • It’s all about the people. To us, diversity is a strength. We check our egos at the door and value all backgrounds and experiences. From our employees to our customers to our partners—we build relationships that last.
  • We give a shit. Every detail matters. We research, we test, we adjust. We take pride in everything we do by being thoughtful in our decision making and design process.
  • We put our money where our mouth is. We work with ethical and humane partners, we act with integrity and trust, and we take ownership of our actions and mistakes.
  • We build for the future. First, we listen; then we think, plan, and act for the long-term. We see problems as opportunities and take calculated risks to build a company that lasts.

THE PERKS

  • Full insurance benefits
  • Open vacation policy
  • Hybrid office model (in office M/T/Th)
  • Great location in the heart of Nomad district
  • Office snacks and drinks
  • Thursday happy hours
  • Free Mack Weldon gear
