  • Assist in production for print (placing hi-res imagery and illustrations, updating line-ups, server folders, ragging and tidying K4 files prior to close.

  • Translate complex conceptual and strategic ideas into graphic design solutions

  • Push the envelope for what a classic legacy brand can look and feel like digitally, with a command of typography, composition, messaging hierarchy and balance.

  • Optimize digital translations of WSJ. Magazine’s print editions for web and social, bringing creative ideas for new ways of presenting visual information.

  • Work with internal and external collaborators (photo editors, digital editors, project managers, events teams, developers, illustrators and video editors) to optimize the design experience of all Style content.

  • Ensure the top-tier execution and ethical standards of WSJ. Magazine and the wider Wall Street Journal are consistently met: that work is of impeccable quality across all platforms, and that The Journal’s codes of conduct and overall Standards & Ethics rules are scrupulously met.

You have:

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years experience working within stylish media outlets or journalism brands, advertising agencies, creative studios, or other organizations with an emphasis on digital publishing.

  • Experience working in print production and proofing procedures.

  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere) as well as all social media platforms and Google products.

  • A strong understanding and general skills around motion graphics and social video.

  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, front-end design styling and ability to use a basic CMS.

  • Understanding of user experience and responsive design trends.

  • Exciting, clearly articulated creative taste and strong visual sensibility.

  • Passion and creativity for telling stories on digital platforms in innovative ways, and a desire to constantly push the creative envelope while working within the framework of an established brand.
