The Role:

As a Director of Engineering at Intersection, you will be at the forefront of scaling Intersection’s Link product as we expand to new cities and grow our fleet. Starting in NYC, Link has now expanded to London and Philadelphia with more cities to come soon. The Director will shape, develop and manage our capabilities as we scale, including remote management of the fleet of Link kiosks, implementing customer and product solutions, leveraging creative capabilities, data, and infrastructure across owned and operated properties.

This role requires the leadership skills and vision to build and optimize engineering practices and manage and mentor a team of engineers, with an eye for scale and continuous improvement. Additionally, this role requires excellence as a full stack engineer and the desire to contribute hands-on to building products to manage digital devices in urban environments.

What you will accomplish:

• Improve team productivity through engineering practices, collaboration, and technical direction
• Lead, manage and direct the engineering team on a day to day basis
• Provide mentorship and technical leadership to the engineering team
• Earn the respect and credibility of partner teams through pairing, collaboration, and technical expertise
• Shepherd agile and lean practices and process at scale across your teams and collaborating teams
• Identify technology and product solutions to strengthen our applications resilience and data effectiveness
• Helping drive from ambiguity towards something tangible through an iterative process
• Work across multiple teams to achieve business objectives and maximize value

What we expect:

• Significant experience in the field of engineering, including recent experience as a hands-on full stack engineer
• Track record of building and supporting successful tech-based products and platforms at scale
• Passion and expertise with agile engineering practices, such as test automation, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and test-driven development within a DevOps culture
• Experience leading and mentoring teams to deliver high-quality services, through collaboration between Systems and Product engineers
• Proven experience working with customers and stakeholders at the highest levels
• Strong capabilities of observation, analysis, synthesis
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to clearly articulate the business benefits and tradeoffs for various technical approaches and investments.
• Ability to balance what’s ideal with what’s practical and understand how to make incremental steps to improve
