LOCATION: New York City (hybrid), London (Hybrid), or Fully Remote in the United States/United Kingdom
SALARY: $190,000 - $215,000 (based on NYC, will be adjusted for geo)
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Software Engineering Manager to lead and inspire our Data engineering, Services, and AI/ML teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in event-driven software systems, Kafka, relational and No-SQL data stores, and service-oriented architecture. You will play a crucial role in driving our technical strategy, managing multiple engineering teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software products.
What You'll Do:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers, including other engineering managers.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, promoting professional growth and development.
  • Drive the hiring process to attract top talent and build high-performing teams.
  • Oversee the design and development of scalable, event-driven software systems.
  • Ensure the effective use of Kafka, relational databases, and No-SQL data stores.
  • Guide the implementation of service-oriented architecture and microservices.
  • Collaborate with product management and other stakeholders to define and prioritize technical projects.
  • Contribute to high-level product and technology strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Balance long-term strategic planning with the ability to make quick, data-driven decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and resources to ensure successful project completion.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, remove roadblocks, and ensure a continuous flow of information within the team.
  • Adapt to changing requirements and provide innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.


What We're Looking For:

  • Demonstrated experience managing and scaling high-performing software engineering teams.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with ambiguous or missing information and adapt quickly in a startup-like environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for getting involved in both technical details and high-level strategy.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).


Preferred:

  • A curious explorer who keeps up to date with latest technical developments and has a good knowledge of the process of building ML systems.
  • A champion for integrating machine learning who can consistently identify opportunities for ML solutions across different projects and teams.
  • A leader who can set clear expectations for what AI can and cannot do internally and with customers and stakeholders.
  • A leader who promotes a culture of curiosity and humility.
