Director, Retail Media Programmatic Sales

Job Description

About the Position:

As a Director on the Programmatic Sales team, this person will be responsible for selling premium programmatic (PMP/PG) and People Inc.'s Offsite Retail Media Solutions across a variety of client categories, including Food and Beverage, Home, CPG, Beauty, and Entertainment. Primary functions include:  (i) selling programmatic offerings to advertising clients (and, as appropriate, agency trading desks, retail media networks, and demand-side platforms) either as programmatic-only or hybrid deals; (ii) cultivating successful, renewable and high-growth premium programmatic sales relationships with major US advertisers and the agencies that represent them; (iii) working with marketing to create premium programmatic sales collateral; (iv) working with internal stakeholders to develop post-campaign reports containing insights and analytics that reflect the value of the People Inc. Digital programmatic and retail media offering; (v) driving top-line premium programmatic revenue growth; (vi) collaborating with internal and external sales and product teams to develop People Inc.'s Retail Media solutions and go-to-market sales strategy.

The role requires programmatic sales experience, retail media knowledge, and market positioning acumen with an understanding of the technical, execution-oriented, and market-driven considerations of premium programmatic and retail media transactions.

Hybrid 3x a week- New York, NY or Chicago, IL 

In-office Expectations: This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.

About the Position's Contributions:

  • Lead premium programmatic sales efforts (PMP/PG), working with a cross-functional team of company stakeholders (Client service managers, Direct IO Sales, Ad Operations, Marketing, Revenue Operations, etc.) to drive overall Retail Media Programmatic Revenue growth for People Inc.'s Digital (desktop, mobile and video)

  • Source demand, close, manage, and scale People Inc.'s Digital’s premium programmatic sales efforts across a defined cross-category account list

  • Deeply understand the Retail Media ecosystem, the role People Inc. solutions play in a client’s Digital and Omnichannel strategy, and the ability to strategically frame solutions to address client needs, challenges, and objectives.

  • Build, maintain and manage relationships with clients, agencies, trading desks, DSPs and all other relevant demand sources (e.g. Retail Media Network partners)

  • Leverage a highly consultative sales approach designed to ensure that clients and agencies receive the highest level of partnership and customer support

  • Solicit demand side feedback to identify feature People Inc.'s Retail Media and Programmatic product improvements

  • Serve as an expert on key programmatic business trends, new technologies and best practices. Be the expert in packaging and selling programmatic inventory.

  • Support direct sales team in structuring and selling successful hybrid (sponsorship and programmatic) deals

  • Work with Marketing to create sales collateral (including analytical insights) and post-campaign reports detailing achievement of campaign results and communicating the value of People Inc.'s Digital’s premium programmatic offering

The Role's Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements:

Education:

  • BS/BA degree preferred

Experience:

  • 5+ years of digital media sales experience

  • 2+ year in programmatic ad sales, revenue operations, business development, and/or retail media sales. 

  • Experience working with DSPs, SSPs, DMPs (e.g. open auction bidding, private marketplace platforms, programmatic guaranteed platforms)

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills: ability to articulate a strategy, solution sell, and to communicate complex technical features in simple terms.

  • Entrepreneurial self-starter with a desire to grow revenue, develop strategic partnerships, cultivate client relationships – while working in a highly collaborative, team-based environment, in a matrix organization.

  • Broad knowledge of the programmatic and retail media ecosystem (including exchanges, ad networks, DSPs, SSPs, DMPs, trading desks, retail media networks, etc.), and strong relationships within the space, with emphasis on ATD, DSP and agency relationships.

  • Deep understanding of cross-functional industry capabilities: Data, Targeting, Measurement, AdTech, Digital Commerce, Retail Media, media planning.

  • Excellent analytical and quantitative abilities. Strong quantitative aptitude with the ability to analyze campaign performance data, identify insights, and recommend optimized/future media solutions.

  • Strong financial skills and negotiation skills

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Must be willing to work occasional nights and weekends for client entertaining and events.

% Travel Required:

  • Willing to travel to see clients - 20-25%

Pay Range

Salary: New York: $135,000.00 - $160,000.00 Illinois: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of People Inc's total compensation package for employees.
