Defiant Studios was founded in New York City in 2016 by industry veterans with many decades of experience in designing, building and producing AAA games for a global audience. We strive to create incredible gameplay experiences while working with curious and passionate people. Our focus is to explore and expand the boundaries of cooperative multiplayer games through compelling storytelling woven into unique and beautiful worlds. Defiant is currently developing multiple unannounced projects including a groundbreaking original AAA IP for next generation platforms.

This is an exciting opportunity for an AI Programmer to work closely with their content creators to design fun and robust character behaviors for our AAA title. At Defiant, you will implement behaviors for the inference systems of our game engine. You will partner with animators and designers to fully realize NPC combat, general behaviors, and work on a wide range of different game aspects. We see the perfect candidate having shipped at least one AAA game as an AI programmer from start to finish. This is a rare opportunity for a candidate who wants to play an instrumental role on a small team building and developing a compelling experience.

Required Qualifications

• A strong passion for game AI and a keen sense of fun gameplay
• Prior experience working as a programmer on at least one shipped AAA title
• Minimum of 3 year's experience from general gameplay, animation and/or physics programming
• Fluency in C/C++

Desired Qualifications

• Experience working with navmesh generation, tessellation, voxelization, CSG operations
• Experience working with character scripting, animation state machines, animation blending and similar techniques
• Experience with tools development using QT, python or wxWidgets
