Vimeo's Video Platform team is responsible for the systems and services that upload, transcode, and deliver billions of plays and hundreds of petabytes of on-demand and live videos.

The Video Platform team aims to provide Video-as-a-Service (live, transcoding, thumbnails, GIFs, etc.) internally to Vimeo as well as our other products (e.g. OTT).

What you’ll do: 

• Help the Video Platform team integrate its video services in the Vimeo’s core app (in PHP), and allow the team to ship new features faster. 
• Work on a core part of Vimeo: making sure uploads, transcodes and playback of Vimeo users videos are successful.
• Take ownership of a critical part of Vimeo’s product.
• Work closely with other team members of Video Platform to ensure its services are reliable, well documented, easy-to-use to hold them accountable for providing a best-in-class Video API.
• Collaborate with the other contributors of the PHP app to improve its quality, documentation, tests, etc.

Skills and knowledge you should possess:

• 2+ years of experience building backend services.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Write high-quality (reliable, readable, testable, reusable) code.
• Experience working with Restful APIs.
• Knowledge of relational databases.

Bonus points (nice skills to have, but not needed):

• Experience programming professionally in PHP.
