Job Summary

Graphika seeks a well-rounded, experienced Backend Engineer to join our team in New York City.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Write and maintain Ruby API code
• Design new and enhance existing data pipeline services that ingest and process large quantities of structured and unstructured data from varied sources.
• Write tests to make sure your code is reliable
• Collaborate with product and support to ensure successful product creation

Candidate Profile

You have a sustained track record of making significant, self-directed, and end-to-end contributions to large software projects. You think beyond just the task at hand to deeply understand the 'why' behind what you are doing.

You work with confidence and without ego. Our engineers have deep knowledge and exercise a high degree of leadership in their daily work. You have strongly-held, defensible ideas, and advocate for what you believe is right. You are also adept at identifying and evaluating trade-offs, willing to be proven wrong, and quick to walk through fire to support your fellow teammates.

Required Qualifications: 

• You have 3+ years of professional programming experience
• You have working experience in Ruby and/or Python
• You are excellent at debugging and optimizing code
• You have knowledge of SQL and common relational database systems such as PostgreSQL and MySQL
• You are a well-rounded engineer with solid knowledge of CS fundamentals.
• You have a deep understanding of good software engineering practices, including version control, code reviews, testing, and refactoring.

Preferred Qualifications:

• You have experience with AWS services: S3, Lambda, Kinesis, SQS, etc
• You have experience with GraphQL
• You have experience working in a data-focused organization
• You have experience with social media analysis
• You have experience with NoSQL technologies like MongoDB
