Backend Engineer, Billing Platform (Trello)
Atlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity, assuming candidates have eligible working rights and a sufficient timezone overlap with their team. As our offices re-open, Atlassians can choose to work remotely or return to an office, unless it's necessary for the role to be performed in the office. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
Here at Trello, we celebrate the many ways we work. With a team of over two hundred, we connect from Atlanta coworking spaces, Minnesota forests, Hawaii beaches, and our beautiful headquarters in Manhattan. We expect our developers to contribute more than just code. You'll be involved in defining how things work, what they do, and why we do that instead of something else. We also expect you to share your knowledge and expertise with everyone else. In other words, we're all whole humans and expect the same from you. If that interests you, read on to learn more about the role.
Trello's Billing Platform team is hiring a backend engineer to help support the wide variety of internal systems that process transactions and make sure customers get what they pay for. This person will work with the team to support and expand on the integration pipelines between Trello's billing system and other teams or systems, particularly around finance and enterprise sales.
Our stack includes Node.js , C# (.NET/Mono), SQL (mostly SQLServer, but also Redshift and DataBricks), and Mongo. We also integrate with third-party solutions, including Salesforce, Netsuite, Xero, Stripe, Avalara. You don't necessarily need experience with these technologies, we just thought you'd like to know.
In this role, you would:
- Help enable financial transactions for the over 2 million teams that use Trello every month (including 80% of Fortune 500 companies).
- Maintain and expand on the pipelines that connect Trello's billing systems and other Atlassian systems, mostly using Node.js, C# (.NET/Mono), and SQL.
- Work on cloud-hosted, enterprise-scale, distributed software systems of medium-to-large scope and complexity.
- Collaborate with the Atlassian teams that integrate Trello's billing data into third-party software solutions like NetSuite and Salesforce.
- Receive mentorship (as you learn our systems) and work closely with experienced team members (always).
- Strive to write code that lasts for years, not months.
- Document your work for the rest of the team, and generally leave everything a little better than you found it.
And you:
- Are interested in reports/transforming data, finance systems, or enterprise integrations.
- Enjoy understanding and improving systems with lots of moving parts, both human and digital.
- Have an excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Are motivated by helping your coworkers and other developers-your default is to Play as a Team.
At Trello, our developers and designers run the show and are very influential in decision-making. We hire creative people and give them the autonomy to do great work. We're strongly against artificial separations of responsibility and throwing work "over the wall."
Our US offices are in New York City, San Francisco, Mountain View, Austin, Boston, and Blacksburg, VA (but you don't have to be). Trello is and always has been remote-first.
We built Trello to be a remarkably great place to work.
