Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Biomedical Engineering Specialist III to join the medical physics department.

 

We are actively developing new methods to address a wide range of imaging, radiotherapy, and engineering challenges in the treatment and diagnosis of cancer. Collaboration among medical physicists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, and other clinical investigators helps to ensure that the latest developments benefit patients as quickly as possible.

You will:

  • Provide engineering electronics services in the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, operation, preventative maintenance and safety.
  • Design and installation of biomedical equipment, including Medical Linear Accelerators, clinical or radiological imaging apparatus, radiotherapy systems, and electronic or electro-mechanical devices.
  • Implement suggestions for modification and changes to equipment or systems. Work in conjunction with the manufacturer’s input and needs of medical staff to enhance the performance, reliability, functionality, and safety.
  • Document and record information on equipment service/repair in a computer database and generate/maintain reports as requested by supervisor.

You need:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in Biomedical Engineering or related field
  • 6-10 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with Linear accelerators (VARIAN preferred)
  • Clinical or Electrical Engineering certification preferred
  • Analog, digital, and microprocessor electronics design experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical/radiological /therapeutic instrumentation systems design and management.
  • Relational database design experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills. Publication history preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with a wide variety of test instrumentation. Capable of interpreting diagrams, prints, drawings, and manufacture technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of principles of particle accelerators necessary to accomplish on-site repairs. #LI-POST
