The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) will be the responsible party for leading all elements of mParticle’s information security program. The CISO will be accountable for the security and protection of all information entrusted to mParticle by its customers, partners, and employees. The CISO will have enough flexibility, creativity, and intellectual aptitude to evolve our information security program to continue to address the security challenges facing mParticle.

mParticle is the Customer Data Platform of choice for multi-channel consumer brands. Sophisticated marketers at companies like Venmo, NBCUniversal, Spotify, and Airbnb use mParticle to integrate and orchestrate their entire marketing stack, enabling them to win in key moments of the customer journey. Unlike legacy data platforms, mParticle provides advanced identity management capabilities necessary to power full-featured integrations and true multi-screen experiences. 

The CISO will be expected to interact and communicate across the organization, and have the domain knowledge and the necessary acumen to inspire confidence and trust amongst both technology and business leaders. The CISO will ultimately be responsible for maintaining an organizational culture where information security is ingrained into the fabric of our standard business operations. It is their job to scale it and make sure there is company wide adoption at all levels of the org. 


This position would be ideal for one of the following profiles:

  1. An experienced information security leader of a nimble organization who would like to apply their past experiences to a new challenge 
  2. A talented information security professional who believes that they are ready to lead an information security function and is looking for that opportunity. and an opportunity to grow and scale globally.
  3. A technically advanced information security manager or architect who has a genuine interest in expanding their pre-existing knowledge in areas of risk, compliance, and governance – and will embrace this component of the role. 
  4. Experience working within a start-up environment.

Qualifications:

In order to be considered for employment, as the Chief Information Security Officer the candidate should be able to demonstrate the following during the course of an interview process:

  • Has demonstrated success and effectiveness as either the responsible party for Information Security in a technically progressive organization, or provided key support to the security leader of a technically progressive organization, or a Security Architect in an advanced security environment, or has served as an experienced information security consultant with operational responsibilities. 
  • Has demonstrated experience in securing Amazon Web Services environments.
  • Has demonstrated experience in either leading or directly supporting the successful evolution and advancement of an information security program. This will include building consensus with functional leaders by demonstrating value and measurable results.
  • Has experience with aligning a security program against international compliance standards including ISO27001 and SOC2. Ideally having liaised with external auditors to gain or maintain industry standards and maintain internal compliance against those standards.
  • Has an appreciation and a clear understanding of how information security will impact an organization whose core business is driven by advanced technology. The candidate will be able to effectively interface with Development and Engineering teams in order to ensure that security is effectively implemented into the Development Lifecycle and Production Environment. 
  • Has the ability to visualize, create, design, and execute an information security program from its inception. Has enough foresight to create a “road map” for the information security program to align and scale with the company’s evolution. 
  • Will be able to serve as a “lightning rod” for high caliber information security talent as the information security program grows. The CISO will be able to effectively evaluate, attract, and retain a focused team of highly competent information security professionals. 
  • Has direct experience in leading a security assessment and testing process that will include but is not limited to penetration testing, vulnerability management, and secure software development. 
  • Has a clear understanding of relevant information security governance, technical and security standards, and regulations which when effectively applied will serve as the framework for the company’s information security function. 
  • Has the ability, temperament, and desire to engage with mParticle’s external customers and partners to articulate mParticle’s security posture and the methodologies that are utilized to secure sensitive information. 
  • Have experience in the evaluation and implementation of industry standard enterprise wide information security technologies and concepts. These can include but are not limited to: Application Security, Cloud Security, Data Loss Prevention, Security Event Management, GRC Tools, Threat and Vulnerability Management and Identity and Access Management. 
  • Has experience in the creation of incident response plans. Can demonstrate an understanding of how to optimally respond to an incident and minimize its effect on the business.
  • Has experience in managing the relationships with external information security technology vendors, and specialized information security professional services firms. This includes participation in the evaluation process of their capabilities, and the eventual negotiation of fair agreements between their company and these entities.
  • Will be able to illustrate a consistent and logical pattern of strategic career investments and professional development that have helped them develop the skills and experience required to be an effective Information Security leader. This can include education, industry certifications, professional development thought leadership, and other external interests and pursuits. (i.e. community involvement, philanthropy, etc.) 
  • Can speak to information security concerns that are looming on the horizon and demonstrate logical thought patterns that are applicable to the organizations that they are attempting to secure.
  • Has inspired the creation of a culture of information security awareness amongst the company’s core ecosystem – employees, partners, and vendors – while maintaining efficiency.
  • An authentic alignment with mParticle’s cultural values of self-awareness, accountability, flexibility, thoughtfulness, and resiliency.
