Company Description:

Quartet is a pioneering healthcare technology company striving to improve the lives of people with mental health conditions. We connect people to a personalized care team to get them the right care at the right time. Our collaborative technology platform and range of services brings together physicians, mental health providers, and insurance companies to effectively improve patient outcomes and drive down healthcare costs. Backed by $153MM in venture funding from top investors like Oak HC/FT, GV (formerly Google Ventures), F-Prime Capital Partners, Polaris Partners and Centene Corporation, Quartet is headquartered in NYC and is currently operating in several markets across the United States — Pennsylvania, Washington, Northern California, New Jersey, North Carolina, Louisiana, and Illinois.

About the team & opportunity

The Core Platform team builds and operates services that support end-user applications and integrations with internal and external systems. We do this while working directly with our product team to understand the value we wish to deliver to our users. Our work is typically realized in the form of APIs but can take other forms such as scheduled workloads and batch ingestion pipelines. We design, implement and support these services in collaboration with the wider engineering team to ensure an efficient and robust service offering.

As a candidate for this role, you value working with a team that values high quality, reliable, maintainable code. You share the idea that effective testing is a critical part of the development process. You've been involved in some part with the design, implementation and delivery of a software on a major cloud provider. Perhaps you're also looking to apply your technical leadership skills to develop people in addition to products. Ultimately, you're looking to advance your career as a software engineer by joining us to build a scalable and secure platform that helps patients receive the care they need.

Accountabilities

  • Help define, estimate and deliver new product features.
  • Design scalable and secure technical solutions.
  • Upskill junior engineers and support their growth.
  • Support our production environment by participating in the on-call rotation.
  • Participate in our agile development processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of professional experience with Java (ideally with Spring Boot)
  • Experience with at least one popular web application framework such as Django, Rails, Spring Boot, etc.
  • Experience with SQL, relational database modeling and schema migration strategies.
  • Experience deploying services on a major cloud provider.
  • Awareness of web application security concepts and preventative strategies.
  • Understanding of API design principles and patterns such as REST, GraphQL and RPC.
  • Located in, or willing to relocate to, the New York City area. We'd like you to start your career with us on-site.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with third party APIs.
  • Experience acting as an on-call engineer.
  • Interested in serverless and cloud native architecture patterns.
  • Awareness of Domain Driven Design principles.

An Insider's view of Quartet Health

What’s the vibe like in the office?

Quartet’s office vibe creates a space that balances productivity, creativity, and collaboration. No matter if you are in scheduled meetings with team members, focusing in a phone-booth style cubicle, having an impromptu meeting with someone across the company on the couches, or grabbing a bite to eat and cold brew in the kitchen

Katie

Lead Operations Coordinator

What does your typical day look like?

I take calls from our patients, in our different markets across the country and my goal is to connect them to the right provider to ensure they get the care that they need. It feels great to make a difference at that moment, for another human being that is going through difficulty. My job makes a difference in someone's life; it feels rewarding.

Subomi

Patient Inbound Specialist

How has your career grown since starting at the company?

Quartet has given me opportunities to discover what I enjoy and excel at professionally, and what I’m eager to grow in, even if it doesn’t come naturally. Prior to Quartet, I had viewed my career linearly, but after 3 roles in Business Development, BD Ops and now Strategic Partnerships, I’m grateful for each leadership and learning experience!

Charissa

Strategic Partnerships

How do you make yourself accessible to the rest of the team?

I am proud of Quartet's open culture. Our whole team can reach out at anytime; I meet with teams many times a week, and often have 'skip levels' too. We have 'Free Form Food Fights' twice a month - a time where I meet with any and all Quartetian's without an agenda except to be available to answer any questions they have, live or anonymously

David

Chief Executive Officer

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

I work cross functionally with teams to help assess the current state of our markets and understand where there are areas for improvement and expansion. By analyzing data & communicating findings to teammates across the organization, we are able to refer more patients to care while increasing the speed to which they arrive at their 1st appointment
