Database Administrator

We are looking for an experienced MySQL database administrator with additional experience in NoSQL technologies (ElasticSearch, MongoDB, Redis, etc.) to join our team. Good knowledge of Amazon RDS for MySQL is a big plus.

The Position

• Perform typical MySQL DBA tasks:
  • MySQL server and Amazon RDS for MySQL configuration and security review.
  • Backup/recovery, replication, failover and disaster recovery.
  • Slow query review and recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze and resolve all database issues, and ensure business continuity. 
• Understand and design high-availability database architecture.
• Collaborate with VirtualHealth clients on a technical level.
• Collaborate with application/database developers and operations/support staff on database architectures, policies and procedures.
• Implement necessary automation for database operations and monitoring.
• Provide on-call support of MySQL issues.

Requirements

• 4+ years recent experience with in-depth knowledge of MySQL. 
• Knowledge of SQL (MySQL) and Linux shell scripting, other languages like Python and Go is preferred. 
• Database design/architecture experience in a Linux/MySQL server and/or Amazon RDS for MySQL environment. 
• Database administration operations experience in a Linux/MySQL server and/or Amazon RDS for MySQL environment. 
• Experience in MySQL performance optimization, clustering and replication. 
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and quickly resolve issues.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Self-starter and self-motivator, ability to perform work with minimal supervision.
• Fluency in Russian is preferred, but not required.
