Your New Role...
CNN is looking for a Developer to join the New Media team as a Developer/Software Engineer with a focus on backend development and DevOps. You'll be joining a small and unique cross-functional team that bridges content, design, product, and technology to create solutions that empower CNN producers to tell the news more visually and uniquely.
This is a great opportunity to be a part of a team and help shape the way CNN approaches technology in storytelling and visual journalism.
Your Role Accountabilities...
The Developer will serve as a leader on the team and help drive the architecture and implementation of ETL pipelines and service infrastructure using Python, Node.js, and AWS services (RDS, Fargate, Lambda, ElastiCache, etc.) that serve CNN's internal tools, and power data visualization for a global audience. They will work to integrate New Media's services with the broader CNN infrastructure, taking into account editorial guardrails, interoperability with CNN systems, and CNN's cybersecurity standards. They will be expected to effectively communicate complicated software concepts and business value in a way their target audience will understand and build, enhance and maintain new and existing functionality for our broadcast storytelling and data visualization tools.
We are looking for a self-starter, creative thinker, and clear communicator with experience in a fast-paced, intense and demanding environment. It is also essential that this person be a motivated team player who is excited about the future of the intersection of design, innovation and news. It also will help to have a spirit of adventure, as we'll be experimenting with new approaches on emerging platforms.
Qualifications & Experience...

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, journalism or similar
• Demonstrated mastery of Python and/or Node.js and AWS services
• Strong DevOps skills using Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation, or similar IaC
• Demonstrated ability to partner with multiple internal and external stakeholders to deliver your product
• Ability to work in a dynamic and nimble environment which can pivot very quickly to reflect the changing needs of the company
• Ability to travel and work weekends as needed
• Prior experience in a newsroom environment a plus

The Legal Bits...
In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. $103,460.00 - $192,140.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
