Your Role on the DevOps Team

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will work on our mission to build and maintain a smooth, secure, and consistent process for moving code into a globally-scalable, stable, efficient, predictable, secure production environment. We’ll rely on your experience with a broad range of technologies to help drive improvements to our platform and processes.

We are a small, remote-first team, so you are free to work from anywhere in the USA. Collaboration, kindness, empathy, and flexibility are key attributes we look for in every candidate. We focus on removing or simplifying existing solutions as much as designing and building new solutions. Because of our size and current rate of growth, you will have substantial opportunity to shape our system and our operations.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Administering, configuring, monitoring and supporting our production infrastructure including being part of an on-call rotation.
• Building a highly-available cloud-based systems scaling across multiple regions and availability zones
• Collaborating with our development teams to isolate application and deployment concerns
• Providing tools and an environment to enable seamless, secure, software development

Experience and Qualifications that will make you successful:

• 5+ years of experience using Amazon Web Services with a DevOps focus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong cloud-native experience writing Dockerfiles, building containers, and deploying to cloud-based Nomad or Kubernetes clusters, especially using Consul and Envoy
• Strong experience using Terraform to deploy infrastructure in AWS
• Experience with application load-balancing, horizontal scaling and HA
• Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines in Gitlab (or other CI/CD systems)
• Experience with monitors, metrics, logging, and tracing in a Microservices environment (DataDog-specific experience preferred)
• Familiarity with with data systems (RDS, Redshift, Elasticsearch) and database administration
• Familiarity with building AMIs using packer
• Familiarity with linux systems administration
• Familiarity with basic network security and principles
• General knowledge of open-source software stacks
