Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE:
NBCU is looking for creative DevOps Engineers for NBCU's Distribution Engineering organization who has the appetite to learn, possesses a combination of technical skills along with communication and soft skills with a mindset of Agile, DevOps and Engineering. This role will be responsible for the engineering, operations, monitoring, deployment, and maintenance of core Distribution Engineering platform.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead a nationwide NextGen technology refresh for the NBC Network including UHD distribution components
- Commission / automate NextGen distribution technology to be used in upcoming NBC Olympic events
- Develop, customize, and enhance monitoring/alerting tools for "on-air" environments
- Develop automated methods to provision, upgrade and monitor Distribution Engineering infrastructure and tools
- Develop proof of concept deployments for evaluation of products and architectures
- Identify single points of failure for new/existing systems; propose & deploy more reliable scalable solutions
- Participate in product release cycles, deploying code to integration, staging, and production environments, integrating with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) tooling
- Evaluate new software releases for basic reliability and systems integration support
- Working with vendors to integrate products and services for NBCU's distribution environment
- Provide Tier 2 support for Operations/On-Air Engineering teams
Note: This is not a 24/7 on-call support role. There is a separate Tier 1 support team handling this
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related degree
- 4+ yrs experience with monitoring and alerting tools i.e. Grafana, Splunk, ELK Stack, Dataminer
- Ability to develop end-to-end monitoring dashboards, alerts and reports for enterprise level environments
- Ability to collect data from various systems using COTS API's
- Experience with scripting languages and tools i.e C#, MS Visual studio, Python
- Experience in modern infrastructure deployment and maintenance
- Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure
- Experience with networking and cloud-based network environments
- Experience with containerization Docker & Kubernetes
- Experience with CI/CD build and deployment practices
- Experience in administrating Linux and Windows environments
- Ability to use Agile process for project management, development & tracking

Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's / Master's degree in Computer Science or related degree
