DevOps Engineer Job Description
We seek an independent, self-motivated DevOps engineer with the experience and drive to own all DevOps concerns at our small and rapidly growing start-up. The role comes with immediate ownership and impact which should strongly motivate the right candidate.
Major responsibilities include managing and extending our cloud infrastructure, CI/CD system, and monitoring facilities. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with our product/engineering teams to design cloud-native software and building internal tools to assist local development. As we are heavily-dependent on real-time machine learning, these responsibilities have some novel characteristics and should present interesting challenges for the right candidate.
Successful candidates will possess solid knowledge of DevOps best practices, Linux and open-source software, and have experience managing cloud-native applications using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) technology. Good communication skills and empathy are highly desired, as this engineer will make decisions with impact beyond DevOps.
Minimum Requirements:
- 3+ years of professional experience in a DevOps role.
- Extensive Google Cloud Platform, AWS or Azure experience.
- Google Cloud Platform experience strongly preferred.
- Other/proprietary cloud platform experience will not be considered.
- Expert experience using Infrastructure-as-Code tools and processes to build and configure cloud systems.
- Experience managing Kubernetes-hosted applications and services.
- Expert experience using and managing Linux operating systems.
- Expert scripting experience (BASH or Python are preferred, but others will be considered)
- Expert experience managing CI/CD systems. Must be able to set up, configure, and manage all aspects of these systems.
- Good understanding of TCP/IP networking and design.
- Broad experience using open-source DevOps tools and familiarity with other tools in the greater ecosystem.
- Previous software-engineering experience is a plus.
