Job Description
Principal Architect - Digital Document Services (DDS)
DDS has an exciting, bold, and challenging remit across JPMorgan Chase & Co. The team is tasked with the definition and implementation of a strategic document management platform, alongside associated services, for the capture, retention, and distribution of documentation data firmwide. Supporting multiple lines of business, DDS products and services allow for timely, consolidated, consistent and accurate identification and consumption of documents and relevant content by authorized internal and external parties

  • Analyze the existing document management systems and develop unique digital services to solve the end-to-end document to data transition needs of our customers
  • Define, design and architect data strategies to collect, store and distribute critical data to the downstream applications & services with tighter access controls
  • Provide technical oversight for major initiatives to ensure implementation remains on track and document/track any deviations and associated risks
  • Drive innovation and roadmaps to modernize and future-proof technology estates, focus on removing technical debt and uplifting resiliency, stability, security, and simplification
  • Collaborate with other functions to develop architecturally sound solutions, provide effort estimates, and develop a high-level implementation plan clearly highlighting risks and dependencies
  • Create and maintain DDS platforms architectural blueprint
  • Drive long-term strategic thinking around end-to-end technical and architectural solutions, ensuring we always remain in line with Global Technology strategy
  • Contribute to design forums by presenting own designs and assessing other designs in flight
  • Maintain good knowledge of industry wide technology strategies and best practices, sharing new knowledge with teams throughout the course of the year
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external customers to understand the actual digitization challenges to design and deliver the specific services
  • Lead technical due diligence for evaluation of third-party products/solutions to augment the digital road-map and onboard as potential integration targets.
  • Improve engineering effectiveness through the right investments in our developer productivity tools and software
  • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies and frameworks to maximize software development efficiency and drive results in producing specific products & services
  • Create an integration ecosystem for external vendors, embedded partners, and developers to scale our digital services to customers across all the industries
  • Ensure alignment with and contribute towards the overall DDS products roadmap


What we are looking for
This is a Principal Architect role where you would be expected to have a strong technical background.

  • 15+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture leadership with a focus on building highly available and scalable applications on private/public cloud infrastructure
  • Demonstrate knowledge of APIs, microservices architecture, infrastructure, data architecture, security, and new technologies with clear expertise in one or more of these areas
  • Delivered highly available, scalable cloud services in both private & public cloud environments
  • Experience in all aspects of cloud computing (infrastructure, storage, platforms and data) and building applications to serve enterprise customers
  • Ability to conceptualize how AI / ML can be applied to drive customer value and business growth; demonstrated experience bringing those ideas to real applications
  • Extensive experience of integrating disparate systems and designing effective APIs
  • Experience in open-source software-based solutions to complement in-house developed applications and cloud services
  • Have a delivery-focused attitude and be able to work within a globally distributed team
  • Significant experience of leading detailed design and implementation of scalable, robust and performant solutions using several different technologies
  • Familiarity with architectural patterns and frameworks
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills, including ability to negotiate compromise and demonstrate diplomacy in sensitive situation
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Past exposure to document management domain is a bonus but not compulsory
