Pumpkin is looking for an engineering leader to help ensure that pets stay healthy and veterinarians stay supported!. They will give lift to the business as they ensure we can scale our engineering organization and confidently deliver for pets, pet parents, and vets.. This role will help lead and grow our software development practice, contribute to strategy and drive execution.
This will be a hybrid position, with a requirement of 2 days a week in the New York City office.
What You'll Do:
- Provide technical and people leadership for the engineering organization.
- Contribute to, and execute, the strategic vision for engineering at Pumpkin.
- Implement metrics and observability around engineering processes and outcomes.
- Own and evolve the scaling, quality, and performance of our engineering practice.
- Work closely with stakeholders to ensure technical needs are planned for and executed.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a high performance team of engineers.
- Facilitate compliance and governance obligations.
What We're Looking For:
- 10+ years of experience in development with 5+ years in progressive management roles in a technology company.
- Ability to participate in architectural discussions and drive technology decisions.
- Proven capacity to actively drive processes, standards, and devops to deliver high quality outcomes and experiences.
- A strategic mindset with demonstrable ability hit near term needs while balancing long term goals.
- Experience driving multi-team initiatives.
- Excellent project, people, and stakeholder management skills.
Bonus Points:
- Analytical and data exploration skills.
- Experience with hybrid/remote engineering teams.
- Implementation of PCI, DFS and/or other compliance regimes.
- Knowledge of veterinary practice or animal health industry.
- Knowledge of insurance software / practices.

The compensation for this position ranges from $165,000- $220,000 (annually). Compensation may vary outside the listed range, based on a number of factors including but not limited to location, qualifications, performance, skills and experience. The compensation range listed is just one component of Pumpkin’s total compensation package for employees. Total compensation packages, depending on the position, may also include incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, and other short or long-term incentives. If hired, employees will be in an ‘at-will position’ and Pumpkin reserves the right to modify compensation (as well as any other discretionary payment or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
