As a Director of Engineering at Compass, you will lead engineering teams to build state of the art technology that empowers people to make smarter real estate decisions. You are a technology visionary that drives the platform to new heights for both agents and consumers. You will work closely with leaders and team members across product, design, marketing, business, and real estate agents throughout all stages of the technology development cycle. You find immense value in the success of your team, emphasizing collaboration and facilitating continuous learning and improvement for the team and its members. You believe in continuously improving operational processes and procedures. You are a technical ace that has tackled and solved extremely challenging engineering problems. Your team comes to you for answers and you provide novel solutions to impossible challenges.

At Compass You Will:

• Lead and mentor engineers, tech leads, and managers
• Identify business opportunities, and define visions and strategies for products
• Be a domain expert on real estate technology and products
• Prioritize the product pipeline and oversee the development of new products, as well as the maintenance and enhancements of existing products
• Develop an excellent work environment and engineering culture
• Build top quality engineering teams and technology practices

What We Look For:

• Proven track record of building strong teams, managing organizations with 50+ engineers, directing multiple teams and engineering managers
• Strong technical abilities, organizational skills, and product judgement on multiple well-known consumer products throughout their lifecycles, from idea conception to product release and maintenance
• Strong product and business vision, analytical thinking, and cross-functional communication skills
• Proven success in working with product, marketing, business, and operations divisions
• Skills and desire to help engineers make technical and career progress
• BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, MS/PhD preferred
