We’re looking for a HANDS ON Director of Engineering to become our first technical hire, who can refine and build out our platform, help us scale, while also leading onshore and offshore third-party teams.   This is a unique opportunity to have a major impact. You'll be a focal leader and key decision maker as the company continues to grow the team with external and internal resources. The ideal candidate is someone who is an expert in Node.JS and React technologies and can work closely with the CEO to manage the entire technology stack, lead new development efforts and support and onboard new SaaS platform clients.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Roll up his/her sleeves and get deep in code as our first in-house developer.
• Serve as Chief Architect of our platform as we scale and enhance our product.
• Make decisions about code design, architecture, and refactoring to balance technical debt against delivering functionality.
• Quickly distill fast-moving product requirements into tangible engineering tasks and designs.
• Mature and scale our start-up infrastructure to meet the demands of a dynamic, growing business.
• Mentor all development resources and work to ensure priorities are clear, development standards are adhered to and testing is conducted.
• Ensure continuous delivery of new features and support services.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years experience in full-stack development and a desire to remain hands-on while the company and platform grow.
• A track record of delivering quality software products.
• Extensive experience with Node.js, React and Postgres.
• Excellent computer science basics/building blocks – a CS degree is ideal.
• A deep technical understanding of cloud computing, distributed system architecture, and information security.
• Prior experience designing and architecting scalable, multi-tenant web applications on AWS.
• Experience with RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with financial systems integrations (SAP, Concur, Oracle, etc.) a plus
• Experience working with financial transactions, PII, or in a regulated industry a plus
• NYC Based or willing to relocate.
• Experience mentoring and leading engineers.
• An entrepreneurial spirit; experience with young companies or co-founding is ideal.
• Influential communicator, Fluent in Remote: You’ve managed or worked closely with distributed teams that emphasize online communication (Slack, Github, Zoom, Jira, GoogleDocs).
• Enjoys working in an agile environment and strong understanding of agile methodologies.
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Comfortable with the risk element inherent in a very early-stage startup.
