In order to most effectively prevent injuries in a given operational environment, we work closely with each client across many dedicated and leading-edge teams, including client services, data and engineering, IT security and others. Each safety program is tailored to the needs of the workers on the ground and the managers who oversee them, including what types of safety wearables and attachment options will suit them best, and the look and cadence of the safety reports that we’ll provide. The result is an actionable and scalable safety solution that seamlessly becomes part of a facility’s daily routine and is proven to prevent workplace injuries by as much as 64% across hundreds or thousands of Industrial Athletes.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Director of QA and Testing, you will play a vital role in responsible for working on overall automation of QA and testing process in the existing engineering process and creating the next generation wearable hardware and software that StrongArm needs to keep the industrial athlete safe. This includes designing automation approaches, working closely with other Hardware Engineers, Software Engineers and technical design partners to streamline the end to end testing process over to the production environment.


We are looking for a self-driven leader with exceptional analytical abilities to approach a problem creatively, build and retain top talent, and span the topics of automation of QA and testing process across the entire organization. You will work alongside and report directly to the Executive Director.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Delivery of QA/Testing Automation with the highest quality and Cross Team Awareness:

  • Build a testing center of excellence to enable automation on QA and Testing process end to end across the entire engineering organization
  • Planning (Analysis, Test planning and organization): create a test process and test strategy that analyzes which test methods and tools are suitable and used for test activities.
  • Ensure that test engineers document the tests carried out and analyze and evaluate the software quality before determining the further recommended procedure.
  • Apply your understanding of Test Automation and software engineering best practices to impact design and implementation approaches and solutions 
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities with the client team, product management and engineering teams focusing on CI/CD and DevOps 
  • Execution (Monitoring, issue management and reporting): defines which resources are used and plans the deadlines, budget, and personnel costs. A test project plan can serve as an orientation, but it is constantly adapted as the test progresses.
  • Improve manual tests, automated tests, frameworks and tools to meet best practices and standards 
  • Design, create and maintain reusable and representative test data to support test designs 
  • Ensure product is released into production is of the highest quality through processes and controls 
  • Create a culture of transparency, ownership, collaboration, accountability and quality 
  • Shape a high-performing team and lead the team to embrace new ideas that produce outstanding results for customers
  • Develop meaningful cross-functional relationships with partners and stakeholders across the business
  • Responsible for reporting to the client, the responsible project management or other stakeholders. 


Key Requirements / Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent
  • A minimum of 10 years of diverse experience in the Testing/QA/QE field with a passion for quality and a demonstrated track record of continuously improving 
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a leader managing high performing teams 
  • Strong hands-on experience with automation and load testing frameworks such as Eggplant, Selenium, Coded UI, Espresso, XCUITest, JMeter, Jenkins, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate and articulate to stakeholders and management across multiple business functions 
  • Demonstrated history of successfully coordinating and executing all aspects of testing efforts from project inception to post launch 
  • Strong risk management skills and a knack for recognizing and anticipating things that would eventually turn into problems (problem avoidance vs reactiveness) 
  • Experience executing Functional, Non-Functional, Integration, System, Regression, Load and End to End testing 
  • Ability to develop a testing strategy that is customized and optimized for the situation at hand and communicate it effectively to stakeholders 
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and facilitate actions 
  • Deep understanding of how to leverage automation in testing efforts and the ability to identify tests that would be optimal candidates for automation 
  • Thorough knowledge of API architecture and extensive experience in testing APIs
  • Experience in testing Embedded HW/SW using Bluetooth/BLE and Wifi protocols
  • Ability to effectively utilize issue/defect tracking tools such as JIRA, DevOps tool such as github, and test case management tools such as Zephyr 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills 
  • A deep passion for quality, an unrelenting attention to detail, and the proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously 


Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent
  • 2+ years’ work experience in digital / IOT / sensor / wearable hardware development
  • Experience with micro-controllers + development platforms similar to Nordic nRF52833, nRF52832, TI chipsets or other IoT platforms.
  • In-depth understanding of Physics and physical properties of conditions around a wearable sensor.
  • Experience in testing Embedded HW/SW using 5G, Edge and GPS protocols.
  • 2+ years implementation and operation experience with Zephyr
