Cedar is improving the patient financial experience. Our technology platform uses data science to engage patients and help them understand the cost of their care.

As we continue to rapidly grow we need an Engineering Manager to join the Pre-Visit Pillar of Engineering. Pre-Visit is an exciting new product at Cedar, arming patients with valuable information before their visit and allowing them to check in before they reach the front desk. This pillar is made of highly passionate and hard-working engineers, product managers, product designers, and data analysts, collaborating cross-functionally through greenfield development.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage a team of 4-6 individual contributors with the potential chance to lead a second team.
  • You are a people-first manager. Invest in employee growth, happiness, and long-term professional development.
  • You are a hands-on contributor, conduct tech design and code reviews with the team, spend up to 50% of your time coding.
  • Play a key role in architectural and implementation decisions and articulate the impact of those decisions to Cedar’s team members.
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and data science teams to continuously innovate on Cedar's products

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of software engineering management
  • Experience building complex web applications
  • Experience with relational databases, REST APIs, MVC Architecture, and OOP principles
  • Strong project management skills. Effectively communicate across cross-functional teams

Preferred Skills

  • Python expertise is preferred
  • Experience hiring and building teams
  • Experience collaborating with product and design teams
