Engineering Manager (Greater NYC Area, NY)
Manage a team of software engineers and plan and execute projects aimed at building highly scalable, performance-oriented applications systems around video hosting workflows. Support development and success of software engineers as direct reports. Help build a career plan for them and provide them opportunities in the form of technical assignments. Develop goals for the team aligned with the priorities of the company enabling vertical growth of engineers. Provide vision for the team’s technical and operational success. Work with the stakeholders and cross-departmental teams like product teams, analysts, and human resources professionals to identify hiring opportunities, manage compensations for direct reports, and allocate budget for newer projects and team building activities. Partner with the team of Product Managers to identify market opportunities for development of new products and enhance existing ones. Identify the scope of new projects and develop an execution and operational plan for the same. Contribute to the architecture and code of the engineering project. Supervise approximately 4 software engineers.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and 5 years related (progressive, post-baccalaureate) experience. Must also have 24 months of experience (which may have been gained concurrently) with each of the following: (1) Working on a cross-departmental engineering team to determine application specifications and requirements; (2) Developing media delivery products and software prototypes; (3) Designing, modifying, and developing media applications; and (4) Analyzing enterprise user needs in order to develop software application architecture for the production-scale service layer. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently. Salary: $175,000 to $230,000/year. Full-time, position located in New York, NY.
