The mission of the Enterprise Architect is to provide strategic technical leadership that enables business success as impacted by technology and its application to business systems (integrated technology, process and work done by people). The Enterprise Architect will accomplish this mission in an environment of rapidly changing business models, technology, and customer expectations. The Enterprise Architect will govern, evangelize, strategize, and delegate but will primarily architect, design, facilitate, lead and direct enterprise architecture in multiple contexts of the business.

Qualifications Overview

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering
  • 4+ years of experience under a CIO or equivalent defining and implementing strategies including multi-cloud
  • M.S. Software Engineering, or B.S. Software Engineering / M.S. Information Technology Management, or Equivalent Formal Education
  • MBA preferred but not required
  • Extensive experience with enterprise architecture best practices and goals
  • Strong understanding of Multi-cloud architectural solutions and integration patterns
  • Strong experience with iPaaS including API Management and Security
  • Experience with Informatica iPaaS architecture and design patterns for Application and Data orchestration/integration
  • Experience with Amazon AWS, S3, and related Big Data environments and applications a plus
  • Excellent leadership and motivational skills

Detailed Qualifications

Demonstrated expertise in the design of complex IT systems and their respective architectures:

  • Discovering and gathering system(s) requirements
  • Analyzing single and integrated IT systems across platforms/networks
  • Formulation of solution context
  • Identifying and assessing solution alternatives
  • Assessing and selecting alternative technologies
  • Configuring designs and diagramming same

Deep working, technical knowledge (Subject Matter Expert) in multiple disciplines that include:

  • Multi-cloud architecture
  • Application development and deployment
  • Creation and maintenance of infrastructure supporting complex application environment(s)
  • Cross-platform design, build, integration and maintenance
  • SaaS, PaaS, IaaS and “Other-as-a-Served” disciplines
  • Innovation: ideation, idea selection, execution, better outcome achievement
  • User experience: Impact of architecture/design on end user

Method-driven approach to execution:

  • Uses recognized design methods
  • Comfortable deploying parts of methods appropriate to the situation
  • Able to produce body of work through repeated successful use of more than one design method, applying appropriate parts of different methods as a given situation dictates, and knowing what methods not to use

Full project scope experience:

  • Must be accountable for design, planning and hand-off to project implementation resources
  • Must have working knowledge of entire project life cycle: design, planning, development, testing, implementation and production
  • Able to monitor execution of solution design against reference architecture, identify deviations and other issues suggesting risk during project execution, and intervene when appropriate
  • Able to gather information during execution of solution design to identify and document lessons learned, inform the trade-offs required in making decisions, and ensure better future decisions

Personal, professional and leadership skills:

  • Listening and engaging in dialogue that supports the success of others on the team
  • Must collaborate and think critically in a team-based environment to solve problems
  • Assertive in substantiating and making key decisions within areas of primary responsibility
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to all stakeholders, including the non-technical
  • Strong focus on working with functional and project managers to make decisions in a timely manner and keep work on track, within budget, schedule and other constraints

Governance skills:

  • Must be able lead with reference to enterprise architectures and established policies for evolving the architecture as the company scales
  • Serves as chair of architecture governance committee or board

Advanced knowledge of business environment – Internally and Externally:

  • Working knowledge of professional services firms required; real estate preferred
  • Working knowledge of business processes and how those processes work with other peer enterprises in same or similar industries
  • Able to spot key trends and suggest correction of flawed processes, giving the Engineering/IT organization the capability to enable enterprise success, not just respond to requests
