About ThoughtWorks

ThoughtWorks isn’t your average company, so we don’t hire average people. We hire those who want to use technology to address challenging problems, explore new domains and advocate for social justice. We do this by hiring talented technologists who reflect the diversity of the world around us and share the values of the ThoughtWorks community. We’re currently interviewing for Entry Level Software Developers to join us in 2020. In 2020, we will have open positions in our Dallas, Atlanta, New York and San Francisco offices.

We’re more than just a consultancy — we’re a social community composed of individuals who bring curiosity and a real passion for technology; the kind that makes learning seem more like fun than work. This community flourishes with continuous learning, teaching, and knowledge sharing, so we’ve implemented a “no jerks allowed” policy.

I’m interested, what are you looking for?

No CS degree? No problem! We consider candidates with less than 1 year of work experience in the tech industry. Do you have more than a year of work experience as something other than a developer? We also work with “career changers” on their switch to becoming a software developer.

As a Developer, you’ll get to work alongside other deeply talented developers, analysts, and designers in an Agile, Lean, and Continuous Development environment. You’ll take on our clients’ business-critical problems by building custom-designed, multi-tier applications using a wide range of technologies. Get ready to experience working in an informal, collaborative, transparent, non-hierarchical, ego-free culture on teams where you can feel comfortable to freely voice your ideas and opinions.

What can I expect when I join?

Once you’re hired, you’ll jumpstart your career as an entry level consultant with a trip to ThoughtWorks University (TWU) - a five-week training course in India or China. Learn more about ThoughtWorks University here! When you return home, the First Year Experience provides ongoing on-boarding support to help you get your career started on the right track. Click here to read more about the ThoughtWorks First Year Experience.

If you're interested in starting your software development career with ThoughtWorks, we cannot wait to meet you. We have some of the best and most qualified technologists on the planet - Come join us!

Still interested? Here’s what you’ll bring:

  • No more than 1 year of professional experience working as a developer.
  • Understanding of analysis, design, coding, and OO concepts.
  • Ability to travel up to 100% (back home on the weekends) across the US and Canada to help our clients solve their business problems.
  • A collaborative and un-hierarchical approach to “getting the job done” style of working.
  • A passion for non-stop learning, a positive outlook, and a dedication to excellence.

A few important things to know:

Projects are almost exclusively on customer site, so candidates should be flexible and open to extensive travel.

Please note that unfortunately candidates who will require visa sponsorship now or in the future in North America are not eligible for this role.

Not quite ready to apply? Or maybe this isn’t the right role for you? That’s OK, you can stay in touch with AccessThoughtWorks, our learning community (click "contact me about recruitment opportunities" to hear about jobs in the future).
