Software Engineer - Front End - Data
Teachable is looking for a frontend engineer to join the Data Team. We're a small, tight-knit team of smart people who get a lot done with minimal overhead. We collaborate on roadmap, design, and architecture, and are on a mission to revolutionize education.
As the Data Team’s first frontend engineer, you will be responsible for building visualizations in d3.js or another visualization library that present data to users throughout the organization in an appealing and easy-to-understand manner. You will follow design guidelines put in place by the Design Team to maintain the look and feel of the Teachable brand. You will also build tools for end users throughout the business to interact with Data Team products and APIs, including designing a user interface for our data warehouse documentation database. You will report to the Data Platform Manager and will implement visualizations and dashboards at the direction of the Lead Data Analyst.
We’re looking for someone with experience developing both d3.js visualizations and interactive web pages that use React or another framework to handle user interactions. You should enjoy working with and displaying data, and be a creative visual thinker.
Who You Are
- You have at least 1-2 years experience developing interactive web pages and data visualizations in a production environment.
- You are adept at d3.js and javascript generally.
- You have a good sense of how to visualize data effectively, and be able to demonstrate that ability.
- You care about good programming practices (OO and functional principles, test coverage, readability and maintainability, performance, etc.).
- Experience with React or working with a Ruby on Rails backend is a plus
- You are interested in joining a collaborative team that cares deeply about its product and each other
