Full Stack Developer, Special Projects
About Your Role:
Dotdash is looking for a full stack JavaScript developer to work on our publishing platform’s special projects team, to help us build out the next generation of new applications that will drive content publishing and management at Dotdash. This team will work on a wide variety of projects, with a focus on delivering UX and user-centric solutions that solve tough and interesting problems in the content publishing space.
You will be developing well-architected solutions that take full advantage of our existing frameworks and libraries while incorporating new technologies and best practices as needed. We are looking for someone with a passion for the web and its fast-moving ecosystem, that would also like to expand their skills.
About Your Contributions:
- Develop responsive and elegant SPA functionality with an eye toward streamlined UX, using HTML, Vue, and SCSS, as well as client- and server-side vanilla ES6.
- Collaborate with a distributed, agile team of developers, product managers, QA, and designers.
- Participate in conversations about the design and architecture of our codebases, upcoming new builds, and code refactors.
- Research new technologies and approaches to solve problems and improve existing systems.
- Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Help track and address technical debt.
- Make meaningful contributions to code reviews to ensure quality.
About You:
- 2+ years in a frontend or backend engineering role, with 1+ years working as a full-stack engineer
- Demonstrable proficiency with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience with relevant frameworks for the client (Vue, React, Angular) and server (Node.js + Express or similar), as well as related build processes (Webpack, Grunt, Gulp)
- Experience working with APIs and REST-ful services
- Comfortable using the tools of modern collaborative Agile+Scrum SDLC, including Git, Jira, planning poker, etc
- Able to work independently on coding solutions with guidance from lead or peer developers, but comfortable seeking help or input from the team when stuck
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field or foreign equivalent
