About our Team:

Our Engineering organization works across many areas - from our custom logistics management system to our user-facing products on web and iOS. Our consumer team is dedicated to providing technical solutions to our customers’ needs: all while maintaining quality, scalability, and engineering rigor.

The Buying and Renting Experience team is a cross-functional group of engineers spanning back-end, web, iOS, and quality. We use scrum and agile methodologies to plan, and peer code reviews and pair programming to collaborate. We strive for quality of work with thorough testing and a measured approach. 

About the Job:

As a Full Stack Engineer on the Buying and Renting Experience team, you will work closely with a group of enthusiastic engineers who focus on products to make our customers happy. You will work on user-facing products that help users across their whole journey - from product discovery to purchasing items on our site.

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with engineers and other teams to define project features and brainstorm ideas 
  • Work with business and technical stakeholders to identify software solutions to business challenges
  • Write clean, testable, and efficient code
  • Participate in all aspects of agile software development including design, implementation, and deployment
  • Improve our underlying micro-service architecture to optimize load times and improve developer efficiency 
  • Assist in the planning and execution in migrating our services to the cloud
  • Analyze, design and implement software solutions for Customer Data systems with a goal of mitigating privacy vulnerabilities and preventing potential future privacy risks
  • Continuously contribute to privacy, security, and legal initiatives to address privacy concerns, mitigate risk, and encourage a culture of privacy

 About You:

  • You have  professional full stack development experience and a high level of comfort with modern Javascript//Java/Linux/MySQL/MongoDB/SQL. 
  • Past experience building performant web applications at scale
  • An obsession with optimizing applications for speed and performance
  • Experience with distributed system performance analysis and optimization
  • A passion for bringing great products into our world through collaboration and ingenuity
  • Knowledge of various types of data stores, and their pros-and-cons
  • Ability to understand, diagnose, and effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
  • Ability to handle ambiguous problems and make the tradeoffs without compromising quality
  • Experience in modern frameworks and design patterns (MVC, REST, React, Redux)
