BCG Digital Ventures, with our corporate partner have recently launched Fern Health. Fern Health is a fully funded concierge service to help patients navigate care for pain management. These concierges will be aided by analytics and use engage with patients via digital channels. With funding already in place, this startup will capture part of the 100 billion dollar back pain market through personalized programs, navigation, and treatment options.

We are looking for an exceptional Head of Engineering who is passionate about building and launching new tech products and to join the executive leadership team and drive the tech vision, definition and prioritization.

AS THE HEAD OF ENGINEERING, YOU WILL:

• Liaise with the company’s executive team and help drive its strategy
• Define, articulate, and execute engineering strategy from launch to scale
• Build and lead a team of engineers and data scientists
• Define technical requirements and systems architecture with clarity on feasibility, time, cost, and impact
• Take ownership over existing MVP features/ MVP production systems to grow and scale
• Hands-on coding and pair programming with the team to drive better solutions
• Make decisions on build vs buy for the new product features

DRIVE TALENT AND TEAMS

• Hire and retain a multidisciplinary, elite engineering team
• Cultivate a high-performing, engineering-empowered culture
• Evangelize technical vision and strategy both internally and externally
• Be a strategic thought partner to the CEO, ensuring the right balance between prioritizing scaling the team and cost as well as between growing locally versus remotely

DESIRED EXPERTISE & EXPERIENCE

• 10+ years architecting and building products from pre-launch through maturity
• Released (and maintained) 1-2 products to the market
• 7+ years building consumer-facing digital product experiences
• Startup experience in key engineering leadership positions at multiple high-growth technology companies
• Ability to stand up an organization and hire engineering talent
• Experience developing and maintaining applications in Healthcare
• Experience with some of the following is a plus: React, Node, TypeScript, Postgres
• Experience with backend/platform engineering, scaling performance engineering, security
• Cloud-native development and devops/CI/CD
