We are getting ready to launch and scale a new, stealth venture within a leading skin care and aesthetics company that will transform the medical aesthetics market and beauty space. With funding in place, this venture is well positioned to disrupt the multi-billion dollar US medical aesthetics market, infusing cutting edge technology and killer content into an industry primed for innovation. We are looking for an exceptional Head of Engineering who will own the engineering effort across the related ventures of this effort.

• Set the technical vision and build the technical product roadmap from launch to scale; including defining long-term goals and strategies.

• Establish enterprise-wide disaster recovery and continuity plan
• Build an efficient and agile end-to-end application infrastructure, with best practices in software estimation and delivery
• Define and implement a consistent and repeatable process for quality assurance across all areas of organization and product build

• Consistent development of the technical roadmap to remain ahead of the market.
• Provide expert technical guidance to all functional areas, including strategy, operations, sales and product.

• Drive ecosystem partnerships and relationships as senior technical expert to drive growth.
• Evangelize technical vision and strategy in the marketplace, and communicate to employees and shareholders
• Establish credibility throughout ecosystem as a technology evangelist to drive authentic engagement to galvanize engineering team to create and drive technical solutions to core business challenges.

Who You Are:

• Desired Expertise and Experience
• Start-up engineering leadership experience (prefer high growth company with funding and 50+ employees)
• 10+ years software engineering experience in agile development environment
• Strong use and direct familiarity with lightweight (LAMP, MEAN) technology stacks, micro-services, etc.
• Proven track record of demonstrating ability to scale and build large engineering teams from scratch (5+ years building & managing engineering teams)
• Proven experience with building and scaling front-end technologies and mobile/web interfaces
• Experience managing engineering teams of 5 years or more, preferably at a high growth tech company
• Experience with software best practices in:
• Distributed Engineering Systems
• Performance optimization techniques
• Object oriented design and building backend applications with REST API services using Java or Node.js
• Designing and developing service-based architectures and/or micro services
• Designing data persistence and caching concepts using both SQL and NoSQL DBMS (e.g.: MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, etc.)
• CI/CD and Cloud Infrastructure automation and DevOps – E.g. setup, configure and maintain your own dev/build environment (we use AWS & Docker)
• Software engineering practices (e.g. Agile software development, test-driven development, unit testing, code reviews, design documentation, etc.)
• Virtualization or container technologies (e.g.: Docker, Vagrant, etc.)
• Sitecore or leading CMS platforms
• Native and/or hybrid mobile development (e.g.: iOS, Android, PhoneGap, ionic, etc.)
