About the role:

We’re looking for a driven and self-motivated Head of Engineering to help build our engineering team, write clean, scalable, and reliable software in a fast-paced work environment, and improve our data and design practices. We need a strong functional expert and manager to lead front-end, back-end, data, product, and technical operations.  As the company’s first full time engineering hire, you will build and lead the execution of the technical roadmap for the company. Initially you will lead and work with our remote development team and will be expected to build your own internal team as we grow.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the development and execution of online marketplace and other point of sale applications
• Lead the development and management our logistics and leasing backend and databases
• Support in the data architecture to build a scalable product
• Support In the build out of application features
• Work and collaborate directly with product to add value throughout the entire application stack
• Help implement and improve coding standards across organization

About you:

• 5+ years relevant experience in startups (architecting solutions from the ground up)
• Strong technical background with a personal preference for remaining highly technical
• Experience leading and building a team with remote and freelance team members
• Experience with online marketplaces, logistics systems and / or financial services
• Preferred languages python, javascript, java and familiarity with vue.js, node.js, and NOSQL
• Familiar with cloud platform (AWS, Azure and Google) and micro service architecture.
• Were a small, lean team; a strong desire to take ownership of tasks and projects is a must
• Well-rounded with diverse interests outside of work, driven to make a serious dent in the world
• Computer Science degree or equivalent preferred
