Job Description

You will lead operational initiatives that ensure the Software Engineering organization delivers on tactical and strategic outcomes as it evolves and scales. As a member of Software Engineering leadership, you will own and deliver on programs of high ambiguity and broad scope/impact. Be part of a leadership group that takes pride in building great software and great teams.


As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be: 

  • Own Software Engineering programs, processes, tools, and relationships needed for well paced product development and support that is predictable and sustainable.
  • Responsible for 3rd party software agreements, vendor management, and oversight of Software Engineering operational expense budget.
  • Oversee talent initiatives such as hiring plans, onboarding, intern, DEI, or training programs.
  • Effect continuous improvement across Software Engineering and/or adjacent technology teams (IT, Security, Enterprise Engineering, or Hardware) through smooth roll-out of changes to evolve technology, processes, or the organization.
  • Support leadership in preparation of communications or material for key internal team and stakeholder meetings.
  • Perform a broad variety of tasks in support of the role and responsibilities.


Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • 10+ years experience in software development leadership roles
  • 5+ years experience in a software program or engineering management role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills. Comfortable interacting with all levels of management and able to represent the concerns of Software Engineering. 
  • Strong analytical orientation - able to quantify inputs/outputs that can be acted on to yield meaningful results, identify opportunities for improvement, or inform strategic decisions.
  • Bias for action with a consistent record of start to finish delivery. Drives ambiguous and complex problems or situations to clarity and resolution.
  • Trusted partner to stakeholders, constituents, and decision makers internal and external to Software Engineering
  • Advocate for an engineering culture centered on excellence, cohesion, transparency, diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it’s ok if you don’t!):

  • Experience working in healthcare or other highly regulated environments
  • Raises the level of the team by attracting, developing, and motivating top talent. 
  • Comfortable prioritizing and managing time and attention across multiple disparate needs and requirements.
