Work as Implementation Development Engineer supporting cloud and virtualization software designed to assist DataCenter administrators to detect, analyze, troubleshoot and resolve virtual infrastructure problems before they escalate to impair application performance. Will function as a traditional Software Developer in the non-traditional business of Virtualization Management technology. The process by which the Turbonomic cloud and virtualization software product functions involves a significant amount of customization to adapt to the customer’s technology infrastructure and the applications that it operates. Will perform software development work in connection with ensuring the proper customization, implementation and integration of the Turbonomic products with customers. Will utilize technical skills to identify solutions, troubleshoot issues, and address and resolve technical questions as they arise.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluate the customer’s technical systems, perform technical requirements gathering and analysis, and design and develop the components of the Turbonomic system that are required as part of its integration and implementation and then program and test the customization applications and systems to ensure that they operate correctly.
  • Applying core software development skills, responsible for ensuring successful adoption of the Turbonomic platform and consulting with our customers on how to establish a more visionary future mode of IT operation.
  • Design and develop innovative and customized solutions to meet customer business and technical requirements including custom data reports and scripts that extend Turbonomic’s core value proposition.
  • Perform technical design, development and testing and prepare documentation as required, applying the principles of Cloud computing, Virtualization, SDN, Containers and Software Defined Data Center technologies.
  • Provide technical leadership for the customer’s major Turbonomic initiatives including solutions architecture and project management functions.
  • Provide clear and constructive product feedback to Turbonomic Product Management and Product Engineering teams based on customer technical requirements which can be used to make adjustments and corrections to the product.
  • Oversee the work of cross-functional Turbonomic project teams, which can consist of Turbonomic engineers, product management, marketing and support staff and act as liaison between customers and both the Engineering and Product Management offices.
  • Help to document best practices in developing and deploying Turbonomic solutions.
  • Function as a front-line engineering/technical resource for best practices and identify solutions, troubleshoot issues and answer technical questions as they arise.
  • Maintain current functional and technical knowledge of the Turbonomic, virtualization, converged infrastructure and storage networks.
  • Gather and maintain current information on the customer’s virtualization infrastructure and initiatives.
  • Deliver technical training classes and workshops to customers.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree (or a foreign equivalent degree) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a closely related technical field and 2 years of experience as a systems engineer in a VMware environment in a large corporate infrastructure. May be gained pre- or post-Master’s degree.

 

 

Must also have: (I) Demonstrated understanding of hardware and software architecture and of infrastructure design and development. (II) Strong technical background with previous experience in Linux system administration and Virtualization management. (III) Thorough understanding of object oriented and model driven architecture. (IV) Demonstrated strong Java development and debugging skills. (V) Experience with MySQL, Linux kernel, algorithms, Web application development, distributed systems, principles of Cloud computing, C / C++, Databases, Amazon Web services, and Operating Systems. (VI) Background with web stack protocols and advanced skills in XML, XSLT, JSON and common design patterns in web framework. (VII) Background designing VMware environments that are of high quality, effectively meet business objectives, and support long-term IT strategy.(VIII) Demonstrated experience performing Hyper-V Server setup and configuration and Window Server 2008, 2012, and 2016 management and migration. (IX) Must have strong communication and team working skills.

We have an office right across from Grand Central Station and another larger office right outside the city in White Plains NY.
