What this role is about: 

The Cloud Security Engineer will be an integral part of our Information Security team. Working closely and collaborating with members across the organization, you’ll support Cloud Security and compliance initiatives throughout RapidSOS. Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest standards for life saving solutions. As a Security Engineer, you’ll work hands-on to help protect edge boundaries, keep systems and devices hardened against attacks and provide security expertise to protect highly sensitive data like secrets and personal information.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist with the design and improvement of Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Privilege Access Management (PAM) solutions for cloud hosted environments.

  • Design, manage and improve security systems, tools, infrastructure and frameworks to protect system users’ identities and data against all types of threat and adversaries in both our production cloud application network and our corporate information technology network.

  • Assist in implementation of security processes and procedures. 

  • Design, deploy, manage and improve systems that generate security logging, metrics and reports and provide remediation actions as needed.

  • Assist with investigations of security events (e.g., unauthorized access, non-compliance with policies, fraud, service exploitation, etc.) to determine malfunctions, breaches, and remediation steps. 

  • Interact daily with the cloud infrastructure team members, systems administrators, data governance, IT management, and business teams.

  • Work closely with and collaborate with engineers, architects, business users, and leaders on architecture and security models.

What we’re looking for in our ideal candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Security OR 5 years of related experience working in a Cloud Security role.

  • Experience with AWS IAM and other AWS security centric services.

  • Extensive knowledge of architectures of other common AWS services such as EC2, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, ECR, and Lambda.

  • Experience with Cloud IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS in the fields of readiness, security, and/or governance. 

  • Experience implementing modern security tool sets used in securing kubernetes and cloud infrastructures.

  • Extensive and In-depth implementation and configuration experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems and other logging and monitoring systems that include security centric information. 

  • 3 years experience programming in Python 3.

  • Extensive knowledge of architectures including (but not limited to): DNS, DHCP, WINS, IP, LDAPS, NAP, PKI, Enterprise Policy Management, and/or Security protocols (IPSEC/TLS/EAP).

  • Experience with encryption technologies, and/or techniques.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and ability to communicate effectively across diverse teams, collaborating with team members.
