Matador is a VC-backed startup dedicated to improving the relationship that young generations have with the financial markets. Buying stocks, on your own, can be scary. We’re building a social investment product aimed at first-time, young investors who can feel comfortable making informed investment decisions together with their friends.

We’re a small team solving a big problem that sits at the intersection of fintech and lifestyle. The younger generations invest 8 times less than their parents, and knowing how to use the stock market to grow and preserve wealth is important. We don’t judge our users: on the contrary, our design-strategy comes from a place of empathy. We look at qualitative and quantitative data to understand the behaviors that lead our users to certain actions (or lack thereof.)

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As an early hire, you will work closely with the co-founders and the management team in building out our iOS app. You will be building new features and improving existing ones, working side-by-side with product design, analytics and backend teams.

ABOUT YOU:

An experienced iOS engineer who is obsessed with delivering a high-quality work product. You value building and maintaining a clean base of code and are a fan of unit testing. Most importantly, you enjoy working with product designers and backend engineers on delivering a delightful, engaging experience that people enjoy.

• 2-3 years of professional, hands-on experience building iOS apps.

• Experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment.

• Strong object-oriented design and coding skills.

• Excellent English communication skills.

• Strong experience with Swift 4.

• Fluency in using RESTful APIs.

• Source code management skills (Git)

• Must enjoy learning and be self-motivated with the ability to switch contexts as the needs of the business evolve.

• Previous knowledge of investing or financial markets not a requirement, but a plus
