That means connecting people to their money in the most intuitive and fun way possible, then connecting people with each other. The Role

Venmo is seeking passionate iOS engineering managers to join our Commerce team and help create new experiences on one of the fastest growing Venmo products. We work together on close-knit, small teams to develop our mobile apps. You will join the team that is passionate about respecting code quality and following our defined best practices while always searching for new, better ways to get things done. We work closely and quickly with our product and design teams to build, user-test and iterate new features with a customer-driven focus. Finally, we value our casual work-hard/play-hard office culture and make ample use of our gaming areas, board game collection and kitchen stocked with coffee and snacks.

Primary Job Responsibilities

You will be primarily focused on managing a small group of iOS engineers working on Commerce product. We work on small teams and as a result wear many hats so you will also be working shoulder to shoulder with team members on delivering new features, reacting to customer feedback & internal user testing, helping to ensure quality, working closely with our UX team to prototype new experiences and helping expand our app's reach however possible. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop people in your team through coaching and mentoring
  • Work closely with the recruitment team to hire and onboard engineers
  • Advocate for development best practices within your functional area
  • Develop new features and bug fixes for our iOS app
  • Iterate with our UX and Product teams in an agile environment to bring features from conception to launch
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and shared knowledge

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of hands-on technical experience with 1 year of people management experience
  • Hands-on programming experience in one of the following: Swift, Objective C

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of hands-on technical experience with 3 years of people management experience
  • Hands-on programming experience in one of the following: Swift, Objective C
